1. Recording data
Atlas Helios saves the selected screen, system audio, and microphone audio as an MP4 at the file destination chosen by the user. The app has no feature that sends recording data to Atlas Associates Inc. or a third-party server. If a cloud-synced folder, network drive, or external storage is selected, that destination may process the file under its own settings and privacy policy.
2. Accounts and analytics
No account is required. This version contains no advertising, analytics, usage tracking, automatic crash-report transmission, or remote-control feature.
3. macOS permissions
Screen & System Audio Recording permission is used only to capture the display or window selected by the user. Microphone permission is used only when microphone recording is enabled. These permissions can be changed at any time in macOS System Settings.
4. Unfinished recording data
During MP4 finalization, a recording may be stored temporarily in the protected App Sandbox container. It is removed after a successful save. If saving fails or the app exits unexpectedly, the file may remain so the user can recover it from Unfinished Recording Data after the next launch.
5. User responsibility
Users are responsible for obtaining required permissions and complying with copyright, privacy, publicity, confidentiality, contract, and other applicable laws when recording content.
6. Helios Tab Lock
When enabled, the optional Chromium extension moves the selected tab into a dedicated recording window. Video and audio are never sent to the extension. The extension communicates only with the Mac app through 127.0.0.1 using a 12-character pairing code. It sends the tab title, browser name, extension version, and lock state—not browsing URLs, page content, cookies, passwords, video, or audio. This control information is not transmitted to Atlas Associates Inc. or third parties.
7. Official website
Atlas Helios opens a web browser only when the user chooses the Atlas Associates logo, Guide, or Official Website. Information processed on the website is governed by the website privacy policy.
8. Language setting
The app reads the Mac language preference for its initial language. A language selected inside the app is stored locally in UserDefaults and is not transmitted to Atlas Associates Inc. or a third party.
